Discover the incredible Danube Delta on a day trip
Towards the end of the course, you will have the opportunity to see the marvellous Danube Delta on our organised full-day trip.
About the Danube Delta
The Delta is a world-heritage site of incredible nature, where the Danube completes its 2860 km journey from Germany’s Black Forest through 10 European countries and finally uniting with the Black Sea. The Danube is the second largest river on the continent. Collecting water from a vast hydrological basin, the river has formed one of the most spectacular Deltas in the whole world in the last 16,000 years.
This natural paradise is famous for being one of the largest wetlands on earth. It gives the best living conditions for a large number of plants and animals. There is one of the biggest expanses of reeds in the world. Visiting the Danube Delta, one is amazed by the variety of different terrestrial and aquatic plants. The wildlife can also take one’s breath away while traveling through the channels of the Delta. It is home to more than 300 species of birds, and more than 150 species of fish.
The tour starts from the hotel reception after breakfast at 7 a.m. on 17th September. After getting comfortable on the bus, we’ll enjoy our morning programme together on our way to the Delta.
After two hours drive, we’ll arrive in Tulcea, the gate to the Danube Delta. Starting at 10 a.m. we will travel through the Delta in our 12-seat boats. The goal is to discover the very finest of natural beauty and delight our senses. During the day we will get close to the amazing wildlife, exotic birds, the wetland of marshes, floating reed islets and sandbars. At lunchtime, we will stop at a beautiful natural forest, and enjoy a delicious picnic meal. Other food items, drinks, or snack options will be available in the floating hotels nearby.
Our tour will end at 6.00 p.m., when we’ll arrive back to Tulcea, from there we’ll drive back to Mamaia while enjoying our evening meditation on the bus.
